Project Description

The Cervical Screening Project is a health-focused initiative of The MAE Foundation committed to safeguarding the well-being of women in our communities. Recognizing that cervical cancer remains one of the leading causes of death among women in Nigeria and across Africa despite being largely preventable this project was designed to raise awareness, provide access to free screenings, and promote early detection as a powerful tool for saving lives.

Through this initiative, women are given the opportunity to undergo free cervical cancer screening, while also receiving vital education on reproductive health, preventive care, and lifestyle practices that can lower their risk. By combining practical medical support with awareness campaigns, the project helps break the barriers of stigma, fear, and limited access to healthcare that often prevent women from seeking early intervention.

The Cervical Screening Project not only prioritizes the physical health of women but also emphasizes dignity, empowerment, and community support. Every screening is a step toward building healthier families, stronger communities, and a future where women can thrive without being held back by preventable diseases.

At The MAE Foundation, we believe that when women are healthy, communities flourish. This project embodies our commitment to protecting women’s lives, raising awareness, and driving sustainable change in public health.

Why This Project Matters

Why focus on cervical cancer?

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable yet deadly cancers affecting women, especially in Nigeria and across Africa, where awareness and access to early screening remain very low.

How does this project save lives?

Early detection through screening allows for timely treatment and prevention, drastically reducing the risk of advanced cervical cancer and saving countless women from avoidable deaths.

Why is awareness just as important as screening?

Many women do not seek care due to stigma, lack of knowledge, or fear. By combining free screenings with education, the project empowers women with information to make informed health decisions.

What impact does the project have on families and communities?

Healthy women mean stronger families and more resilient communities. When women are protected from preventable diseases, they are able to continue caring for their families, working, and contributing to society.

Why is The MAE Foundation committed to this cause?

We believe every woman deserves access to preventive healthcare. This project aligns with our mission to uplift vulnerable groups by ensuring women have the tools, knowledge, and support to live healthier, longer lives.
